ALAM’s Board Of Trustees

Datuk Ali Tan Sri Abdul Kadir
Chairman

Datuk Ali has a long and distinguished career in the accounting sector, previously holding the position of Executive Chairman and partner at Ernst & Young. He is known for his expertise in strategic planning and finance.

He was appointed Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia, from 1999 to 2004, where he initiated the Capital Market Masterplan. He has also served on a number of national committees including the Foreign Investment Committee, the Oversight Committee of National Asset Management Company (Danaharta), and on the international front he sat on the Exco Board of International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and was chairman of their Asia-Pacific Region Committee and the Islamic Capital Market Working Group.

Previously, Datuk Ali was on the board of trustees of the Force of Nature Foundation, a non-profit disaster relief organisation. Currently, he is sitting on the board of the Tropical Rainforest Conservation and Research Centre (TRCRC).


Dr. K Harikrishna
Trustee

Dr. Harikrishna has over 30 years of experience in the field of biotechnology. 18 of those years were spent working at Sime Darby, where in 2009, he spearheaded work to successfully sequence the oil palm genome. He studied at Wye College of London University, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Hons in Plant Sciences in 1985, and in 1989, a PhD in Plant Molecular and Developmental Biology, from the University of Leicester.

This work then led to Sime Darby becoming the first company in the world to trial the commercial planting of genome select oil palm seedlings. In April 2017 Sime Darby Plantation’s Genome Select was announced as a winner for the Edison Best New Product Awards, in the Sustainability Category.

Over his career, Dr. Harikrishna has been a post-doctoral Fellow of University of California, Davis, USA; a lecturer in biotechnology at Universiti Putra Malaysia and was also a visiting scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA, as well as a visiting Professor to the School of Biological Sciences, University of Nottingham (Malaysia Campus).

In 2012 he was inducted into the Malaysian Academy of Science as a fellow. He is currently the Senior Vice President I and Chief Research and Development Officer of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad, and since 2016, also a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), National University of Malaysia.


Professor Emeritus
Tan Sri Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid

Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Zakri has had a distinguished career in science. Widely known as a researcher, educator, scientist and diplomat, he graduated with a Diploma in Agriculture from Malaysia’s College of Agriculture in 1969. In 1972, he completed his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University and in 1974 he received his Masters of Science from Michigan State University followed by his PhD in 1976.

In 2000, he was elected Co-Chair of the Board of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA), one of the world’s largest-ever scientific collaborations. This 5-year project was an integrated scientific assessment of the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being and of the actions needed to address these threats.

He has also made a lasting contribution to the observation, analysis, and assessment of global biodiversity and ecosystem services and even has 3 different species named after him.

He has been Chair of numerous bodies, both at home and overseas, including roles at the United Nations.


Rosnah Kamarul Zaman

Puan Rosnah binti Dato’ Kamarul Zaman has had an extensive and illustrious career in the banking and finance industry, spanning over 25 years. She started her journey with Bank of Commerce Berhad (now CIMB Bank Berhad) in 1979, holding key roles as a Credit Officer and a Branch Manager. Later, she scaled the ranks to become Senior Vice President and Executive Vice President, where she managed numerous functions including Human Resources, Corporate Affairs, Finance, Corporate Planning, Communications, and Public Relations. Her leadership skills were demonstrated through her roles in chairing the Credit Committee and serving on the boards of several bank subsidiaries.

Rosnah played crucial roles in three major bank mergers and was chosen in 2004 to participate in the Global Leadership Development Programme, an initiative by Bank Negara Malaysia to develop leaders in banking. Even after her early retirement in 2005, she remained active in the sector, joining the Board of Trustees of CIMB Foundation in 2007 and serving on the board of Time Engineering Berhad between 2011 and 2013.

In more recent years, Rosnah has continued to contribute to the industry through various board positions at CIMB Bank Berhad, CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, and Danajamin Nasional Berhad. As of 2021, she’s a member of the Investment Panel of Lembaga Tabung Haji and, since May 2022, serves on the Board of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad.

Puan Sainursalwa binti Sani, currently serving as the Chief Human Resource Officer at Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, is a distinguished professional in the realm of strategic human capital management. Recognised as one of the HR ICONS 2023 – 100 Most Influential HR Leaders From Southeast Asia by the editorial team of HRWORLD, her influence and impact in the industry in well-known. Starting her academic journey in human sciences at the International Islamic University, Malaysia, she later pursued a Master’s in Business Administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University. This unique blend of human sciences and business expertise laid a strong foundation for her future career.

Sainursalwa’s professional journey boasts an impressive roster of roles within reputable organisations across Malaysia. She commenced her career as a Manager of Strategic Planning at Malaysia International Shipping Corporation (MISC), followed by a stint at Khazanah Nasional Berhad as Vice President of Strategic Human Capital Management. Subsequent roles at DRB Hicom as General Manager of Strategic HR and at Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare Malaysia as Head of HR Operations further honed her leadership and strategic planning abilities.

Following her role as Director of Human Resources & Administration at the Ministry of Education’s Education Performance & Delivery Unit (PADU), she joined the Malaysia Aviation Group/Malaysia Airlines Berhad as General Manager of Strategic Human Capital Management. Before her current position, she served as Group Chief Human Capital Officer at SME Bank Group. Sainursalwa’s career is marked not only by successful leadership but also a commitment to continuous professional development, evident in her participation in various training programmes focused on business sustainability and team building.

Wan Faizah Che Din
Chief Executive Officer

Puan Wan is an Adjunct Professor at the UNITAR International University and has extensive experience in management roles in various organisations including multinationals, GLCs and private companies such as Savills (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, CBRE Malaysia, Ernst & Young, Bursa Malaysia, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad, Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad and TTDI Development Sdn Bhd. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Accounting) from Monash University, Australia in 1990.

Since joining Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) in 2018, Puan Wan has held various senior roles within the BPMB Group, including Head of Property Management, Head of Property and Administration and the Group Head of Strategy prior to being entrusted with the task of leading Amanah Lestari ALAM as its founding Chief Executive Officer, in January 2021.

A passionate environmental advocate and an avid traveller, Puan Wan has volunteered for various causes both at home and overseas, including planting trees, raising awareness about the environment and helping the underprivileged. As the saying goes “learning never exhausts the mind”, she had completed the Business Sustainability Management course from the Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge. Puan Wan is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and she is also a member of the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers (BOVEAPM).
