Defining ALAM
ALAM is a national initiative mooted by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia and spearheaded by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, with a vision to transform Malaysians’ mindset and behaviours on the environment. Derived from the 12th Malaysia Plan, ALAM aims to create awareness, educate and instil a whistleblowing culture by collaborating with public and private sectors as well as communities. ALAM also advocates policy for improved governance and bridging the policymakers with stakeholders.

🌍✨ ALAM Merubah Minda Times (MMT)
On 24 January 2025, we had the honor of hosting the plenary session, `ALAM Merubah Minda Times,` focusing on the way forward from the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Conference of Parties (COP 16 and COP 29).
This impactful event, held in collaboration with @bankpembangunanmalaysia took place during the BPMB Leaders Conference at Pavilion Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Key insights from our esteemed speakers:
1️⃣ Dr. K. Harikrishna shared the Royal Belum Story, highlighting a collaborative whole-nation approach involving governments, NGOs, international funding, and local communities, along with Malaysia`s sustainability efforts, including SD Guthrie’s Beyond Zero target.
2️⃣ Prof. Dato’ Dr. Nor Aieni emphasized the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the significance of marine biodiversity through the Ocean Decade initiatives.
3️⃣ Dr. Liza Mydin highlighted Malaysia’s climate change commitments and the essential role of financial institutions in driving sustainable change.

Wetlands are vital ecosystems that support biodiversity, purify water, and mitigate climate change.
In 2024, ALAM proudly collaborated with Rakan Muda, Kementerian Belia dan Sukan, Jabatan Perhutanan, YouthCare Malaysia, and many other partners to carry out the ALAM Be-Leaf Programme, planting 1,750 saplings in mangrove ecosystems across Kedah, Selangor, Terengganu, and Johor. These crucial wetlands play a vital role in protecting our coastlines from storms, floods, and erosion.
On this World Wetlands Day, ALAM is committed to advancing sustainability and biodiversity for a brighter future! 🌱
ALAM will continue this effort in 2025, ensuring the preservation and restoration of these natural treasures for future generations. 💚🌎
