Defining ALAM
ALAM is a national initiative mooted by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia and spearheaded by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, with a vision to transform Malaysians’ mindset and behaviours on the environment. Derived from the 12th Malaysia Plan, ALAM aims to create awareness, educate and instil a whistleblowing culture by collaborating with public and private sectors as well as communities. ALAM also advocates policy for improved governance and bridging the policymakers with stakeholders.

On World Rhino Day, we celebrate one of the world’s most iconic wildlife species and the important role rhinos play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
As large herbivores, rhinos help shape vegetation, disperse seeds and create space for other species to thrive. Protecting rhinos also means protecting the forests, grasslands and biodiversity they are part of. 🌿💚
Let’s keep these incredible giants where they belong: in the wild.

🌱 ALAM Be-Leaf @ Sijangkang, Selangor
On 12 September 2026, ALAM came together with @eximbankmalaysia, @adfim_malaysia, @kbsmalaysia, @mufgbk_official, @punbofficialand Sabah Credit Corporation Berhad for a day of hands-on action at Taman Rekreasi Paya Bakau Sijangkang, Selangor.
Bringing together 80 participants, we planted 150 mangrove trees while learning more about the importance of mangroves in protecting our coastlines, supporting biodiversity and building climate resilience. 🌿
A great example of how organisations, partners and youth can come together, turn partnerships into action and play our part in protecting our planet. 🌏💚

🌱 Setiu, we planted something special.
On 25 July, 300 volunteers, including school and university students, partners and community members, came together in Setiu, Terengganu, for ALAM Be Leaf 2026 in conjunction with World Mangroves Day.
Together, we planted and seeded 1,000 mangrove trees, one by one, with many hands and a shared hope to see this beautiful natural ecosystem continue to thrive. 🌿
What made the day even more meaningful was seeing different groups come together with a shared purpose: to learn, contribute and give something back to nature.
A big thank you to our partners Yayasan Petronas, @mufgbk_official, BPMB Group, @setiuwetlanddiscovery, @kbsmalaysia, @jpsmofficial and @nresmalaysia for making this effort possible.

🌱 ALAM Be-Leaf #3 | Growing Forests, Growing Futures
On 4 July 2026, ALAM Be-Leaf #3 brought together 300 participants at Hutan Simpan Pensiangan, Sabah in a collective effort to nurture and restore our natural ecosystems. 🌳
The programme was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri @arthurjkurup, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), reaffirming the importance of collective action in protecting Malaysia’s forests for generations to come.
Every tree planted is a step towards a greener, more resilient future. 🌿💚
