Defining ALAM
ALAM is a national initiative mooted by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia and spearheaded by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, with a vision to transform Malaysiansโ mindset and behaviours on the environment. Derived from the 12th Malaysia Plan, ALAM aims to create awareness, educate and instil a whistleblowing culture by collaborating with public and private sectors as well as communities. ALAM also advocates policy for improved governance and bridging the policymakers with stakeholders.

๐ฑ ALAM Be-Leaf @ Sijangkang, Selangor
On 12 September 2026, ALAM came together with @eximbankmalaysia, @adfim_malaysia, @kbsmalaysia, @mufgbk_official, @punbofficialand Sabah Credit Corporation Berhad for a day of hands-on action at Taman Rekreasi Paya Bakau Sijangkang, Selangor.
Bringing together 80 participants, we planted 150 mangrove trees while learning more about the importance of mangroves in protecting our coastlines, supporting biodiversity and building climate resilience. ๐ฟ
A great example of how organisations, partners and youth can come together, turn partnerships into action and play our part in protecting our planet. ๐๐

๐ฑ Setiu, we planted something special.
On 25 July, 300 volunteers, including school and university students, partners and community members, came together in Setiu, Terengganu, for ALAM Be Leaf 2026 in conjunction with World Mangroves Day.
Together, we planted and seeded 1,000 mangrove trees, one by one, with many hands and a shared hope to see this beautiful natural ecosystem continue to thrive. ๐ฟ
What made the day even more meaningful was seeing different groups come together with a shared purpose: to learn, contribute and give something back to nature.

On 4 July 2026, ALAM Be-Leaf #3 brought together 300 participants at Hutan Simpan Pensiangan, Sabah in a collective effort to nurture and restore our natural ecosystems. ๐ณ
The programme was officiated by YB Datoโ Sri @arthurjkurup, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), reaffirming the importance of collective action in protecting Malaysiaโs forests for generations to come.
Every tree planted is a step towards a greener, more resilient future. ๐ฟ๐

๐ฑ International Youth Day
At ALAM, we believe that meaningful environmental action starts by empowering young people to become stewards of nature and active volunteers in their communities. Through partnerships and youth-focused initiatives, we create opportunities for young people to learn, participate and take action for the environment.
๐ธ This photo captures ALAM alongside the Minister of Youth and Sports YB Dr @taufiqjohari and youth participants during Rakan Bumi: Projek Planet Rakan Muda Peringkat Kebangsaan, held on 18 April 2026 at Pulau Redang. The programme brought together over 300 youth from Terengganu to participate in environmental activities, including tree and mangrove planting.

Bringing the world together to help elephants. Elephants are ecosystem engineers, helping shape forests, disperse seeds and support biodiversity. Protecting elephants means protecting the habitats and ecosystems we all depend on. ๐ฟ
๐ก Fun fact: Elephants communicate using low-frequency sounds called infrasound, which can travel several kilometres and are beyond the range of human hearing!
