Defining ALAM

ALAM is a national initiative mooted by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia and spearheaded by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, with a vision to transform Malaysians’ mindset and behaviours on the environment. Derived from the 12th Malaysia Plan, ALAM aims to create awareness, educate and instil a whistleblowing culture by collaborating with public and private sectors as well as communities. ALAM also advocates policy for improved governance and bridging the policymakers with stakeholders.

Did you know?
🐝 More than 75% of global food crops depend, at least in part, on pollinators like bees and butterflies.
🌳 Forests are home to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.
🌊 Oceans produce at least 50% of the Earth’s oxygen and support millions of livelihoods worldwide.

Biodiversity is not just about protecting plants and animals, it is essential for food security, clean water, climate resilience and human well-being. Every action we take today helps protect the ecosystems that sustain life for future generations. 💚

This International Day for Biological Diversity, let’s continue to protect, restore, and celebrate nature through collective action and sustainable living. Together, we can build a healthier and more resilient planet. 🌱✨

🕊️ World Migratory Bird Day 🌏✨

Did you know?
🐦 Migratory birds travel thousands of kilometres across countries and continents every year in search of food, breeding grounds, and warmer climates.
🌿 Malaysia plays an important role as a stopover site for many migratory bird species along the East Asian–Australasian Flyway.
⚠️ However, habitat loss, climate change, pollution, and illegal hunting continue to threaten migratory bird populations worldwide.

Wetlands, mangroves, forests, and coastal ecosystems provide essential resting and feeding grounds for these incredible travellers. Protecting these habitats not only supports biodiversity but also strengthens ecosystem health for communities and future generations. 💚

This World Migratory Bird Day, let’s work together to conserve nature and create safer skies and habitats for migratory birds around the world. 🌱🕊️
