Defining ALAM
ALAM is a national initiative mooted by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia and spearheaded by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, with a vision to transform Malaysians’ mindset and behaviours on the environment. Derived from the 12th Malaysia Plan, ALAM aims to create awareness, educate and instil a whistleblowing culture by collaborating with public and private sectors as well as communities. ALAM also advocates policy for improved governance and bridging the policymakers with stakeholders.

“Saya trauma. Sudah 11 tahun saya tidak masuk hutan.”
This tragedy prompted a deeper reflection on how education could better support Orang Asli children. That reflection eventually inspired ALAM’s partnership in the Rumah Baca initiative, which has since grown to five Rumah Baca across Royal Belum.
